The Human + AI SIG just hosted our first Show & Tell session, and it was fun to learn how Mensans are putting AI to work in creative, practical, and inspiring ways!

Jim Creighton, from Sylvania, Ohio, shared how he uses AI to streamline operations as president of a country club. From turning menus into instant quizzes for training staff, to pulling weather data for board reports, to storing years of board minutes in NotebookLM so he can ask what was decided on a topic long ago, AI is saving him and his board countless hours. He even uses it to condense nonfiction books into a two-person podcast he can listen to on his commute!

Jamie McQueen, an educator from Corpus Christi, Texas, showed how she uses Claude to generate chemistry lesson plans, along with AI-powered tools like CK-12 to build curriculum resources. For her, AI has become a way to reduce prep time and expand the variety of materials she can bring into the classroom.

Jason Civalleri, a crypto lawyer from Long Beach, California, presented his work with ChatGPT on a framework he calls Transmutationalism – an approach to analyzing projects or systems by identifying constraints and transforming them into new forms of authorship. It's a way of ensuring actions are legitimate only when they create generative new pathways.

And finally, Billie Lee demonstrated a few personal micro-apps she developed with the help of AI coding tools. One app gathers the latest academic research on intelligence, translates it into plain language, and delivers it as a daily email digest. Another takes zip codes from Mensa members, youth participants, and testing candidates and plots them on a map, making it easier to plan local events and outreach.

If you missed this round, don't worry, we'll be hosting more Show & Tell sessions soon. Join the Human + AI SIG on Facebook or here on Mensa Connect to stay in the loop.
